What a special holiday treat we received today! Mrs. Barnett (Mrs. Carmack's friend from church) shared a lesson with the class (and Mrs. Geers) about the Plains and Woodland Indians. She spoke about their customs and traditions; and their differences and similarities. She brought in several artifacts for the students to see and touch; including a deer's skin, a buffalo's skin, Indian feathers, a turquoise bracelet, and arrowheads. The students were also given the opportunity (if they chose) to taste some buffalo meat! We are very fortunate to have such knowledgeable volunteers willing to share with us. Ask your child how to say thank you (the Indian way).
Have a nice evening!
