Students and staff were treated with a visit from Richard Stein, writer/lecturer and Mary Coons, illustrator, during our Right to Read Week.

Mr. Stein loves to write, especially for children, and loves even more to share his work face to face. A retired teacher/administrator who has visited hundreds of classrooms and read to thousands of students, Mr. Stein loves sharing his work with students as well as hearing about their latest writing projects. During his career in education, he taught English, speech, and theatre arts. Thus, he brings a sense of drama to each school he visits.

Mary Coons has been a children‚s illustrator for twenty years. She began with illustrations for small magazines, moved on to text books, and by now has illustrated nine books and two coloring books. She fills in her spare time with drawing house portraits, greeting cards, and other art projects. She teaches illustrations in camps and schools.

Thank you Mrs. Brausch and PTO for arranging this for us during our Right to Read Week. Students were thrilled to meet Mr. Stein and Ms. Coons and loved taking home their autographed books.
