Future Surgeons Experiment
wunne1:

Mrs. Wuenemmann and her co-workers from Ethicon Endosurgery visited second grade students to demonstrate how orthoscopic and other surgical procedures are performed. Each student used miniature tools to mimic surgery. Future surgeons carefully removed Tootsie Rolls from sponge stomachs before stapling wounds. They explored a life sized model of our heart and lungs, as exhibitors explained how special surgical tools avoid interfering with these organs. The children also experimented with a green screen and "disappeared", Harry Potter style.

Forces That Change the Earth
Fourth grade students have been studying forces that change the Earth's surface. As a culminating activity, students researched different types of volcanoes. Students then created models of the volcanoes they studied. A number of students included the various parts of volcanoes. Some of the projects created by Mr. Huecker's students are shown below.

Math Games
As a fun culminating project for the end of the year, Miss Higginbothan gave the third grade Advanced Math students the assignment of making a math game. Students were permitted to choose any Math skill that they wanted. The students then created the game so that four players could participate in reviewing that math skill. The students demonstrated a lot of creativity.

Cake Decorating
Fourth grade students competed in a cake decorating contest. Their cakes, plus those donated by Kindergarten parents, were a huge hit for the Spring Carnival cake walk. Ticket prizes were given to the winning cake decorators: Kali Colby for first place, Reece Jackson for second place, and Amy Bertsch and Sabrina Dunbar for third place.

Mrs. Carmack's class won a pizza party for donating the most pop for the "Ring the Pop" game.

The carnival was a huge success! Thank you parents for your help and support with this PTO fundraiser. You're the Best!
