Week of: Monday, October 27th:

We will be reading Around the Pond this week with our comprehension strategy focus being Monitor and Clarify.  Our class is learning that real reading = text + thinking! During our reading, we are finding our own mistakes and going back to re-read.  We are stopping at each page to think about the story and looking at picture clues to clarify our understanding of the story. We are also learning to identify all four types of sentences: declarative (telling), interrogative (asking), commands, and exclamation sentences.

This week in math we will be solving number patterns and identifying the rules to multiple step patterns.  We will also practice making change by counting up! We will be collecting data and making and analyzing bar graphs.

In Science, we will continue with our plant unit.  We will learn about the imporant parts of plants, what plants need and seed dispersal.

Study your math facts each night!  My goal for our class is to have everyone pass the 5 minute 80 facts addition test by the end of October!  Let's work hard to reach our goal!  We can do it!!
