Well, we have officially made it to the last day of school. I know most of you will not be attending on Friday, because you will be going to work with a family member. Parents be sure to watch for report cards coming home today, along with an excellence certificate. Your child should also have the items they purchased in the "Coupon Sale".
Thanks to all the parents who helped with the biography speeches. The students who performed on Tuesday, did a nice job also. Some of the costumes were great, and I especially enjoyed all the posters. The children all seemed to learn a great deal about their famous American.
Keep reading over the summer, remember that Salem Township Library has a fantastic summer reading program with great prizes and fun activities. Also, don't forget to keep practicing those multiplication and division facts. I have enjoyed working with all of you! I will see you in the fall, when you are officially 4th graders. Have an excellent summer!!!

Can you believe we only have one more week to go? The children are continuing to work hard, but definitely have that "summer fever". Next week we will continue reading Charlotte's Web, and do some more relaxing activities. Remember the last of the Famous American speeches are on Tuesday, May 27th at 2:30. The speeches that we have heard so far, have been wonderful. I have especially enjoyed all the creative costumes, props, and posters. Nice job everyone!
We were going to have our "Busy Bee Picnic" on Tuesday, but I have rescheduled it for Wednesday, May 28th. This will give the students more time to earn those coveted Busy Bee stickers. Invitations will be sent home on Tuesday, with the children who earned all 12 of their stickers, for good work and behavior. I will provide drinks and sweet treats, and they will need to pack the rest of their lunch. We will be eating outside, weather permitting.
Thursday will be a busy day next week. We will be having our Coupon Sale in the morning, along with the awards assembly. In the afternoon, there will be a talent show. A few students from our class will be participating in it. Report cards will also be coming home on Thursday.
Remember, send in a note, stating your child will be going to work with you or a family member, and they will be excused from school on Friday.
I enjoyed the Scholar's Dinner last night, and I hope the families that were honored had fun too. I want to congratulate our honor scholars for earning the honor roll all year. These hardworking students were: Megan, Kelsy, Wesley, Michael, Kate, and Nick!! Great job, I am so proud of you!!!
Congratulations also goes out to the students who earned an "A+" on the trial spelling test this week. They were Megan, Lance, Michael, Kate, and Sara! Good job everyone.
This week there was a tie for "busy bee" of the week. It was such a hard decision, that I chose two students who had no missing assignments and have been working on improving their behavior. The two hardworking gentlemen were Lance and Austin!!! Good job guys.
Have a great Memorial Day weekend! See you on Tuesday, for our last official week!

Don't forget, tonight from 5:00-8:00 is the Butlerville Spring Carnival. It should be a lot of fun. Don't forget to check out all the "Bid and Buy" baskets. Our class booth is the Plinko booth, so stop by and play, and check out the poster created by Michael and Kate. Thanks again to all the volunteers who are working in the booth!
We are continuing to work on Charlotte's Web, which the children are enjoying. We have also been reading the book "Holes", by Louis Sachar, aloud. The children really want to watch the movie that was made from the book. It has a very interesting story line and a good message. It is rated "PG" because of some mild violence. If you do not want your child to watch the movie "Holes", please send a note in letting me know. If I do not receive negative responses from any parents, we will be watching it next week. So be sure to let me know if you do not want your child to watch this movie.
Also remember that Friday, May 30th is "Take Your Child to Work Day". Send in a note, stating your child will be going to work with you, or another family member, and they will be excused from attending the last day. The honors assembly, talent show, and report cards will all be on Thursday.
We will be having our pizza party for the Super Star Readers, this coming Tuesday. I need a parent volunteer that would be able to pick up the pizzas for me and bring them to school by 11:05. I will be ordering from either Angilo's in Blanchester or Coomer's Market in Pleasant Plain. If you can pick up the pizza's for me, please let me know no later than Monday.
Next week, the biography speeches start. We will be having them on Wednesday morning and Thursday afternoon. Please be sure your child is ready to give their speech. Some helpful hints are coming home today, about how to do their best and earn bonus points on the project.
This week's "busiest bee" was Michael. Thanks for a great job on your spelling test, starring as Bradley in the play, and improving your behavior. Great Job, Michael!!
Have a nice weekend!
