The students worked very hard this week preparing for the upcoming achievement tests. We will be taking the reading test on Monday, April 21st, and the math test on Wednesday, April 23rd. Please be sure your child gets plenty of rest and eats a substantial breakfast, so they will be ready to do their best work. Please make sure they also have at least two, sharpened, #2 pencils, for the test days.
Interim reports come home today. Some of the students' grades have dropped, due to missing assignments or poor work. I know they are tired, but please encourage them to get those grades back up before the end of the trimester.
The spring carnival is coming up on Friday, May 16th from 5:00-8:00. Our class will be sponsoring the Plinko booth. We need parent volunteers to work 1/2 hour shifts. Please send me a note if you or a family member can help us out. Also our class will be having a gift wrapping theme basket for the auction. Please start sending in donations as soon as you can.
Congratulations go out to the students who earned an "A+" on the trial spelling test. They were Megan, Kelsy, Wesley, Lance, Sierra, Austin, Josh, Angie, Michael, Kate, Sara, Natalie, and Nick! Way to go everyone!!
Keep working on book reports for April. Those students who turn in all the required book reports by April 30th, will be considered Super Star Readers for the year. We will be having a pizza party in May, during one of our lunch periods, for those students who met their reading goal each month. More details will follow soon.
Now that all of the students have had a chance to be the student of the week, we are starting the "Busy Bee" program for the rest of the year. This week's "busiest bee" was Kate Koch! Kate sets a good example for her classmates by doing all her work and exhibiting appropriate behavior and kindness in the classroom. The students have 5 more opportunities to be chosen. Encourage your child to keep giving 100% every day.
Have a great weekend!!!
