We have started reading groups and I am very proud of the students' progress so far. Most of the students are reading at home each night and returning their books to school the next day. Starting on Monday Feb. 4th, I am asking the students to bring in an empty cereal or cracker box with their name on the bottom. We will decorate these boxes at school to use for our valentine cards. We have a party scheduled for Feb. 14th. The homeroom parents are in charge of this party. It will be held during the last hour of each kindergarten session. I have included a class roster for each class, so your child can address the cards at home. They can bring in the valentine cards before the 14th. This month we will learn about dental health and the presidents. In math, we will be counting to 100, telling time and learning to count money. We have a delayed start this month on Feb. 12th. We are off school on Mon. Feb. 18th because of Presidents' Day and Mon. Feb. 25th because of a teacher inservice. Conferences are coming up Feb.21st and Feb. 26th. Please make sure that your child knows at least 20 of the 24 sight words. Report cards go home on Feb. 28th. On Friday, Feb. 8th we will start having show and tell. Your child may bring in something to share each Friday, but it must fit in the bookbag and no live animals please. Also, we will only have time for each child to share one item. Our cookie fund raiser ends on Feb. 6th. Thanks for all your support and extra practice at home!!! Happy reading, Mrs. Metz
