Happy New Year!

I hope that everyone had an enjoyable winter break. I would like to say thank you again for all of the thoughtful gifts that the students brought me. I am very fortunate to have so many enjoyable students to work with this year. We donated $238.00 to the Little Miami Food Services to help local families. Wow!!!

As you can see we have been working hard on the alphabet letters. We only have a few more letter people to cover. Students should be able to identify and write the letters that we have covered (both capital and lower case) and know each letter sound.

We now have 24 sight words. Most of the students have mastered at least 20 of these words. I am planning to start reading groups within the next couple of weeks. Your child will be bringing home a copy of the book "Max". I will expect him/her to read it at home and return it the next day. When I feel that a group is progressing, I will issue a new book.

In math, we have been working on writing numbers to 20 in and out of order. We have also started addition facts and will be starting measurement soon.

In science, we are learning more about the weather and the water cycle.

Upcoming events:

Delayed start on Tuesday, 1/15.

The Donkey Basketball Game is Thursday, 1/17 at the high school. This is a good laugh and a fun family time. Tickets are $5.00 in advance and $7.00 at the door.

Monday, 1/21, we are off school for Martin Luther King Day.

Friday, 1/25, the PTO is having a Family Game Night at Butlerville.

Thank you for your support and extra help at home.
