Dress CodePart of the total education of the student is learning to dress and behave responsibly in a school setting. Little Miami Local School District students are expected to maintain a high standard of behavior, and each student is encouraged to dress in a manner that is appropriate. These guidelines will assist parents, students, faculty, and administration in determining appropriate dress for school. l. Parents and students themselves have the major responsibility for their dress and personal appearance. 2. Students will be expected to dress in an appropriately modest manner. No cut off or half shirts which expose bare midriffs, open mesh shirts, or halter tops are to be worn. Students should not wear clothing that displays profane, vulgar, or suggestive language, or which refers to alcohol or drugs. No Umbros are permitted unless "latex" shorts are worn underneath. "Biker shorts" are not permitted. Shorts must be at least mid-thigh. Shoes that cover children's toes, preferably tennis shoes, are to be worn at all times. Flip-flops are not appropriate due to students walking out of them and tripping on the stairs and playground. Students wearing flip-flops will sit out recess for safety purposes. Hats, caps, bandannas, sunglasses, etc. are not to be worn in the building unless a special occasion has been declared. 3. When any dress or grooming interferes with the cleanliness, health, welfare or safety of the student, or when any dress or grooming disrupts the educational process by being distracting, indecent or inappropriate to the educational atmosphere, it shall be prohibited. 4. The Principal, with the assistance of the faculty, shall have the responsibility of uniformly administering the dress policy.
